Where the Forest Meets the Stars
Well, like an alien dropped in on a hallmark romance movie. I think the story being told from the alien's view point would have brought a fresh spin on an over told love story.

When You Trap a Tiger
I enjoyed the Korean story telling within the main story about a family of string women. 3 generations of women / female characters going different transitions. The stories of the tiger weaves it the women's experiences together beautifully.

The Song of Achilles
I studied ancient Greek pottery art and the Illiad in college. Reading the Trojan War story from a different point of view was appreciated because it added more to the theoretical "private" side of Achilles.

The Cloisters
I enjoyed the book because of it's ties to some of the medieval and early renaissance art history. Art history is favorite topic of mine, so the book felt adventurous especially with the murder to get resolved.
